Our History

The Life and Legacy of Kaymar Tanner

The Kaymar Tanner Foundation was created in honor of Kaymar Tanner, a son, brother, uncle, and friend whose life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Kaymar was born with energy. From the time he was young, he was full of life, personality, and confidence. He loved people, he loved to move, and he loved to stand out. Kaymar was an athlete in every sense of the word. If there was a sport being played, he could play it. Football, basketball, baseball, you name it. Sports came naturally to him, and so did leadership.

But Kaymar was more than an athlete.

He loved fashion. He loved looking good. He loved money. And if you knew Kaymar, you knew that about him. He was entrepreneurial at heart, always thinking about how to get ahead, how to hustle, how to make something shake. He was driven, outspoken about his goals, and unapologetic about wanting more out of life. That spirit was undeniable.

Above all, Kaymar was an amazing brother, an amazing son, and an amazing uncle. Family meant everything to him. He showed up, he loved hard, and he made sure the people around him felt seen and supported in his own way.

We are not here to say Kaymar was perfect.

He was not.

Like many young men, he made wrong turns. He faced challenges. He made mistakes. But who has not? Wrong turns do not define a person’s entire life, and they should not erase their potential. Kaymar was still growing, still learning, and still becoming who he was meant to be.

Before he had the chance to right his wrongs, Kaymar Tanner was killed on July 18, 2020, at 6:26 PM, in a case of mistaken identity.

His life was taken, but his purpose did not end.

The Kaymar Tanner Foundation exists to carry forward the parts of Kaymar that mattered most: his confidence, his ambition, his love for money and opportunity, and his belief that there is always a way to get ahead if someone is willing to learn and work for it.

Through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, education, and community support, we aim to give young people and working-class families the tools Kaymar valued and deserved the chance to fully use.

This foundation is not about pretending mistakes do not exist.
It is about making sure mistakes do not become the end of the story.

Kaymar’s life lives on in every child we help, every family we support, and every vision we invest in.

Every family. Every vision. Every chance. Every day.
